Free miles from KrisPay!

Who would say no to free miles? For those who are unaware, Singapore Airlines have recently launch their version of digital wallet. Just like other competitor Grabpay, Favepay and etc., Singapore Airline launched KrisPay. And currently KrisPay is having a promotion that would give out free 500 miles if you would have login for the first time from 1st to 30th November 2018!

KrisPay turns your KrisFlyer miles into purchases. Some quick rules of KrisPay are:

  • Krisflyer miles are converted to KrisPay miles at 1:1 ratio.
  • You login to KrisPay using your KrisFlyer account and to transfer miles over to KrisPay
  • However, KrisPay miles cannot be transferred back to KrisFlyer account.
  • 15 miles in KrisPay is worth $0.10
  • KrisPay miles are valid for 6 months.
With this lousy arrangement and lousy exchange rate, there are not a lot of merchant that you can use KrisPay. Currently there are about 20 merchants that accepts KrisPay as a payment method. Not very such how's the usage rate but I am sure it is not very good.

Anyway, here is a step by step way on how to get hold of that 500 miles! Remember this promotion is only valid from 1st to 30th November 2018 and it is your first time logging into KrisPay.

Download the app on Apple store or Android

Login using your KrisFlyer account

500 miles will be auto credited to your account

If you fulfill the 2 criteria, you will receive 500 miles upon your first login. The free miles will cost about $3.30.

If you wonder what can you buy with $3.30 since we do not want to utilise our hard earned miles, I went through the merchants and noted probably our best bet is Gong Cha.

(source: Gong Cha Menu online)

With normal milk tea cost about $2.80. I think we can safely say that KriPay is giving each of us a free milk tea! I will be trying out to claim the milk tea soon and feedback in this blog. Stay Tune!

Dinner at La Maison 1888

During our stay at Intercontinental Danang, for those who missed our post, please refer here for details of our trip! We manage to try their famous French restaurant La Maison 1888. During our stay of 4 days 3 night here, we were fortunate to try it during our last night as both the nights before were fully booked. We were so tempted to try lunch instead if we can't get the final night booking too.

For those who doesn't know much about this restaurant, La Maison 1888 features a Michelin Star Chef Michel Roux. Currently, it is home to the world renowned three Michelin Star Chef Pierre Gagnaire. This restaurant were crowned as "World's Leading Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant 2017" by World Travel Awards.

With these status and award, the restaurant has some ground rules in regards to dress code.
Dress Code: Smart Elegant
"Gentlemen are required to wear long pants and collared shirt and should not wear open-toed shoes. Although advised, jacket is not compulsory. Dresses, skirts or trousers are recommended for ladies. Please be advised that tank tops, shorts, jeans, slippers and hats/caps are not permitted in the restaurant."

Operating Hours:
Lunch - 12:00pm to 2:00pm (Friday and Saturday only)
Dinner - 6:30pm to 10:00pm (Everyday)

You can also refer here for their Lunch Menu and Dinner Menu.

Dinner always starts with fresh bread which the waiter will come to you with variety of bread.

I decided to go for fish as my wife would go for steak.

The Salmon is really fresh and it comes with mash potato and some fresh vegetables. I would say it's a good choice! Part it with a cup of champagne and it's just perfect.

The restaurant were so kind that they gave us a free dessert for our stay.

Lovely cake just nice to close for the meal of the night. Was so full that we went to the beach to have a walk. Looking at the stars in the sky and and breezy wind blows through my hair. This is indeed paradise.

I WILL BE BACK!

Nintendo Switch Online Membership

I am sure most of us have heard about Nintendo Switch. For those who does not know what is that, I have added a photo of the console below.
Unlike other consoles, the Switch offers three gameplay modes. The first is plugged into your TV. This TV mode is similar to other consoles and is probably the least surprising. The second mode is handheld mode. The user slides controllers into the side of their Switch and it then becomes usable as a mobile gaming device. The third is tabletop mode. The console itself acts as the screen, just like in handheld mode, but the players use controllers that are separated from the console, like in TV mode. This is for using the console as a multiplayer system on the go.

Recently, Nintendo just launch their Nintendo Switch Online Membership. Of course the main purpose of this membership are:
- Cloud save backup system
- Access to 20 classic NES games
- Online multiplayer

Some of the classic NES games are Ghosts ’n Goblins, Excitebike, Tecmo Bowl, Yoshi, Double Dragon, Gradius, Ice Hockey, River City Ransom, Pro Wrestling, Baseball and etc.

Getting excited and wanted to know the plan and prices for the membership?

Nintendo Switch Online memberships will cost US$4 for a single month, US$8 for three months, and US$20 for a full year. A US$35 yearly “family membership” is also available, giving up to eight users access to online play across multiple systems. That is like almost 75% cheaper!

All you need to do is to add your family and link them together into your Nintendo account. All you have to do is head over to the Family Group page on your Nintendo account. Once you are there you can add all members you are going to want on the online plan.

Comment below and let me know what you think about the new ONLINE function!

Da Nang 4 days 3 nights trip!

We did a very impulse decision to head to Da Nang for a short vacation during our 3 weeks long break. For those who doesn't know where is Da Nang, i have included a short description of the place I copied from Lonely Planet:

"Known during French colonial rule as Tourane, Danang succeeded Hoi An as the most important port in central Vietnam during the 19th century, and it remains the principal one for central Vietnam.
In March 1975 Danang, the second-largest city in South Vietnam, was the scene of utter chaos. Saigon government forces were ordered to abandon HuĂ©, while Quang Ngai had fallen to the communists, cutting South Vietnam in two. Desperate civilians tried to flee the city, as some soldiers of the South Vietnamese army engaged in looting, pillage and rape. On 29 March 1975, two truckloads of communist guerrillas, more than half of them women, drove into what had been the most heavily defended city in South Vietnam and, without firing a shot, declared Danang liberated."

Place: Da Nang
Country: Vietnam
Currency: VND (Dong)
Distance: 2.5 hours from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Since the location is by the coast, you know most of the activity are related to water activities. We decided to book our accommodation at Intercontinental Danang. There are a couple of beautiful resort in Da Nang namely: Four Seasons DanangHyatt Danang and etc. Of course there are also some small hotels there.

There are only very limited direct flight into Da Nang. If you are from Kuala Lumpur, only AirAsia flying directly into Da Nang with 1 or 2 times per day. If you are from Singapore, only SilkAir flies into Da Nang with 1 or 2 times per day.

There are 3 restaurant within the hotel compound and we have tried all 3 of them. With Vietnamese (Citron), Italian / Western (Barefoot) and French (La Maison 1888) restaurant, there is something for everyone!

Once we touched down Da Nang, we have arranged an airport pick up which bring us directly to the resort. A guy with our name on it was waiting for us at the baggage area. He waited for us to get our local sim cause we like to stay connect during our stay in Da Nang. The local sim card will cost about USD 7 or less. Just keep looking around and you will find the plan suit your needs!

Traveling around Da Nang is easy with hotel limo, local taxi or Grab app. The app will connect you with local driver which will show exactly where they are and how long it take to arrive. You will also pre agreed the amount of the ride before the accepting each other. It works just like Uber but the South East Asia version. You can click on this link Grab Download to install the app and get going!

We did a city tour during the second day and I will blog separately relating to that day.

Stay tune for the more information on the places we went! Can't wait for the updates? Like and follow my blog in order to get the latest updates on the trip!

Redemption of Maybank treatpoints

Many of you all might not know that Maybank have actually 4 On-the-spot redemption centres that have a much better rates if you want to redeem your points for cash vouchers. Below are the 4 Maybank Card Centre in Klang Valley.

Most of them are in major shopping malls such as Mid Valley, KLCC and of course my favorite 1 Utama. Most of you have read that me and my gf moved to Singapore for work. Therefore we went to redeem all of our Maybank points to do some shopping.

Back to topic, most of us normally does online redemption through Maybank treats catalogue and therefore might lose out in some really good deals. Let me just make a very good example here. As many of us redeem Aeon vouchers. According to treats catalogue, you will need 46,400 TP to redeem RM100 vouchers. I have made a snapshot of the amount of points required for RM100 Aeon vouchers.
However if you redeem through on-the-spot Maybank Card Centres, you will require a lower amount of points for the same amount of vouchers. 40,000 TP for RM100 Aeon vouchers to be exact. That's more than 10% discount and it's a really good deal! With Maybank2Card Amex, you will only require RM8000 to redeem RM100 Aeon Vouchers. That's actually additional of any discount you obtained in store. I took a picture of the rates when i redeem my points.

In conclusion, please don't be lazy. Go redeem your points in one of the Maybank Card Centres and enjoy more discounts!
